BORDERLANDS
Dance as conversation and connector!
Catch this original 3-act devised dance performance that brings together diverse dancers and the cultures of Singapore, Cambodia and Indonesia in an evocative intersection of traditional, contemporary and street dance.
At the centre of it, the Cambodian krama, the centuries-old cultural icon that stands for comfort, beauty, conflict, belonging, danger, strength, comfort, community and more.
And yet….while the krama may be unique to this Southeast Asian country, its symbolism is universal.
Watch as the dancers traverse cultural borders, form connections and converse, create tension and evolve into a beautiful transformation. Sacred spaces, shared humanity, invitation.
Led by Artistic Director Shahrin Johry and Choreographic Collaborator & Vocalist Gigi Gianti, BorderLands’ ensemble features a slate of respected, innovative and visually exciting performers, each with their own unique dance-voice.
Dancers:
Shahrin Johry, Gigi Gianti, Shruthi Nair, Jack Lim, Alton Tian, Kim Socheat, Arif Setyo Budi, Eve Tan, Tung Ka Wai, Weng Jia Ying, Lay Sann

Set to original music by Azrin Abdullah.

COLONY –
A True Colors Project
Commissioned by Singapore International Festival of Arts 2025
COLONY – A Dance Production That Breaks Boundaries
What happens when dancers from Southeast Asia and Japan overcome their differences and push beyond their limits? A colony takes shape—one that pulses with raw emotion, personal struggles, and the relentless pursuit of connection.
In this urban landscape, they move as individuals forced into close quarters. Bound by space, yet divided by prejudice, fear, and the weight of expectations. They push past their own limits, challenging what it means to be perfect, whole, normal, valuable—even human.
But nature teaches us one truth: a colony cannot survive without unity. Differences aren’t obstacles—they are essential.
COLONY – A True Colors Project is an explosive fusion of dance, music, movement and film, where artists collide, collaborate, and create. What begins as a blank canvas transforms into an intense, deeply personal journey, guided by an award-winning team of creatives.
Beyond the stage, COLONY takes audiences into the raw, unscripted heart of creation, weaving behind-the-scenes footage into the performance itself—offering an intimate glimpse into the struggles, triumphs, and breakthroughs that shape the art.
Step inside the COLONY. Witness the fractures. Feel the fight. Experience the transformation.
